The Weight Loss Hype: Why Counting Calories Never Works
AlterNet
That dietary adage was confirmed last week by researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health with a widely reported study in the New England Journal of Medicine. In the study researchers put 811 overweight adults on one of four weight loss plans which were supposed to vary widely in fat protein and carbohydrate content. Most of the reporting discussed Atkins-style high protein diets as similar to the diet’s high protein plan and rnish-style low fat vegetarian diets as similar to the study’s low fat plan. Since everyone who cut out 750 calories per day from their diets lost basically the same amount of weight the take home message seemed to be that none of the popular diets are any better than any of the others.

“It came to our attention that CUUR was an interesting and highly-viable product that makes losing weight easier and more effective but SCN doesn’t have the expertise to properly leverage multi-channel direct response marketing — a core skill set that we have” remarked Jerry Stone Managing Member of TNC. “What’s unique about CUUR is its totally natural 4-ingredient herbal formula that has been clinically shown to enable overweight people to lose up to 47% more weight than they would with diet and exercise alone. What’s unique about TNC is our ability to deliver this message to the core American audience and drive sales that will benefit both companies — as well as major retailers. CUUR is already carried by many major retailers including WalMart RiteAid and Walgreens.

Clinics touting this plan are popping up across the country and in Southwest Florida. But the injections are not approved by the FDA and studies show they don’t work. “You can eat the same foods other people eat and still lose weight. That’s what makes our program a real breakthrough. And because it begins and ends at home it’s ideal for busy people whose active lifestyle doesn’t allow for time-consuming weight-loss programs. The heart and soul of the Medifast Weight Control Center concept is one-on-one counseling with a trained professional. The counselor helps each client design a personal program based on their lifestyle. Together the counselor and client determine an achievable weight-loss program based on a personal profile analysis and an in-body scan that shows exactly where the fat is and how much weight the patient needs to lose so there is no guessing. “As doctors have known for years it’s not only how much you eat but also what you eat that determines how much you weigh and that’s what our program focuses on” says Jackson.
