700 participants ‘” and counting ‘” take on weight-loss challenge

All it takes is participation in the 5th annual Holiday Trimmings Weight Loss Challenge sponsored by the YMCA the Times Record News and Texoma Cycling Center. Anyone in the Wichita Falls area can take part just by signing up for it at the YMCA. All it takes is a one-time fee of $6 if you are 14 or older and the inclination to come and be a part of this weight-loss experience. Sign-ups are taking place at the Downtown Branch YMCA and the Bill Bartley Family YMCA through Wednesday. The turnout has been great according to Association Director of Programming Erin Darche.

Miliani resident Dallas Carter lost over 190 pounds and he continues to be a living walking inspiration to those struggling to keep the weight off. At 26 years old Carter is energetic and active. But he's come a long way from the person he was to the man he is today. “I grew up eating like everyone else. I loved plate lunches” said Carter.

Fail to weigh-in? Pay a $5 fee as well as a $1 fee per pound gained. These fees will be added to the cash pay out and awarded to the person who lost the most overall inches. There is no specific weight loss program required to join the challenge. Participants may use any weight-loss program they’d like whether it be Jenny Craig Weight Watchers Herbalife South Beach or a customized plan of their own.
